Rescue crews navigated flooded and debris-strewn streets Saturday to search for those who insisted on staying and riding out a fierce Hurricane Ike, which shattered skyscraper windows, cut power to millions and flooded thousands of homes as it sloshed across the Texas coast. .

- It was very fortunate that more people were not killed on the ground. The plane could have struck several vehicles. Very tragic for the people on the plane but it could have been much worse. There seem to be a lot of mishaps around this airport.

- I also wondered how someone could walk into a propeller dark or not. I have flown small planes myself and we are extremely careful about the propeller and making sure anyone in the plane does not go near it. That being said. This was a tragic accident.

- Anyone who threatens or hurts a jury member is going to end up on trial themselves. Is attacking someone you don't know over a case made of people you don't know worth going to jail over? It is over. These people need to move on.

- According to an interview with one of the jurors, the fact that the death penalty came into play had a lot to do with the not guilty verdict. They didn't want to sentence someone to death if they had doubt. If the death penalty was off the table they may have come back with a different verdict.

- I agree with the sentiment of everyone here. You all said such wonderful things which goes to show what good hearts you all have. I am involved with wildlife rescue/rehab and I know what a labor of love it is. I am not involved in this particular rescue area but these people are very dedicated.

- Children get excited at zoos. They enjoy seeing the animal so I can understand why the child wanted to get closer. However I used to work at a zoo and when these groups came in, there were never enough chaperones especially the summer camp groups that were run by teenagers.

- I agree with those who realize that Americans are moderates. They do not like the extreme left or the extreme right. If the republicans would get that they would pick up a lot of the independents and disenchanted moderate democrats.

I just want to share with you my Christian understanding of what is at the heart of this article. I suffer with pretty bad depression from time to time and have gone the route of anti-depressants for a while. I then made a contious effort to address the cause of the depression and no longer needed the drugs. The problem turned out to be a total lack of faith in myself and, more importantly, GOD's promises.

Did you know that over half of all Americans are on some kind of ongoing maintanence drugs now and at the same time we are removing GOD from everything but church. That is a very sad fact. I believe the two are very related.

I think many of us are depressed primarily b/c we feel stress over situations we don't know how to deal with or are not in control of. Whether it is money, love, or illness, we fail to reach inside and pull on GOD's strength and promises. He never promised life would be without problems, but he did promise his unwavering strength. No less. If everyone was able to take a deep breath and truly acknowledge the root of their depression, it is not something that needs to be masked with a drug, but maybe re-evaluated as to how important is this and why can't i deal with it. I can attest to this personally.

It is written in the Bible that if we have worry and doubt, then we do not trust our Lord.

That is what Christian church leaders are advising. I believe many people turn to their church b/c that is the most economic option for them. Ialso believe there are those individuals who truly suffer with mental conditions which warrant a doctor,s supervision and possibly chemical therapy and deserve our prayers for God's healing. It would be irresponsible of anyone to advise against medical help.

From reading your comments, I get the impression you are not a practicing Christian. I would invite you to re-evaluate your own convictions and reach out to those of us to answer any of your doubts.
